Last Weeks Farmer's Market

Our farmer's market is in full swing. Blueberries are everywhere and are only $2 a pint. I'm loving this! Here's what I got last week. My goods start with blueberries, cantelope (which is SO much better at the market than at the grocery store), plums, nectarines, zucchini, oranges, and three kinds of eggplant.I ALSO found some blackberries. YUM! I haven't done anything with them except eat them. They go great with cantelope and with my morning yogurt. At first I was worried that I wouldn't be able to go to market b/c of work, but I'm pretty sure that they try to get us out of there by 9 on Sat/Sun if we go at all. Here's a little hint at a yummy concoction coming up tomorrow. Any guesses as to what it is?

Oh gosh, Claire, you're killing me with those pictures! I keep saying I'm going to go, and you know, I've NEVER been down to the Farmer's Market. I love blueberries and blackberries though, yum :)

Caponata? I see peppers and eggplant...

What do you do with all that eggplant? I seem to buy about one a year and I never know what to do with it.

I'm saying beets and spinach.

We found a farm in Texas that lets you pick blackberries for $1.50 a pound. My husband and I picked 30 (yes, thirty) pounds of beautiful berries in about an hour. We also picked blueberries for a $1.30/pound. We are set in berries this year!

Maybe I'll have to talk Stacy into going when she picks me up Friday! That fruit looks SO good!

Stacy - You must go. I really enjoy my Saturday trips.

Erika - Eggplant and peppers it is...but not caponata! I have several recipes I use...eggplant parmesan (baked), an eggplant spaghetti sauce (which is really good), and stir fry. I have a recipe for Moussaka tagged to try soon.

Jancd - I'm jealous of all those berries...of course I have no where to store them. Love spinach but I've never had beets.

Gail - I think you should...she says she can't get herself there. Maybe with a shopping buddy she would! :-)
