In Memory of Granny

I found out this morning that my grandmother went home to be with Jesus during a heart cath procedure. She was 89 and a half. The smell of fruit loops will always remind me of going to her house. So will pecan pie and Granny's cheesecake. I'll miss her but am glad of all that she did with her life while here. She taught a Sunday School class, took care of her friends - taking them to choir and Sunday School, made dinners for her sister-in-law, was an expert seamstress, raised 4 children, and enjoyed 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, but most of all she loved Jesus. Her life glorified Him and now she is singing to Him in heaven.

  9. I'm so sorry for your loss, Claire. What a blessing to have had her in your life for so many years. I only shared my lifetime with one grandparent, my maternal grandmother who passed away when I was 4 years old.

What a beautiful tribute to your grandmother. I have no doubt that she's sitting with Jesus bragging about her family. Hugs to you and your family as you go through this time together.

    Claire,
I am so sorry to hear about your Granny. I got teary eyed reading your post and then reading your dad's comment.
My great uncle died on Monday as well and it really has me thinking about his sister, which is my Grandma. I miss her so much but am comforted each and every day by her overwhelming presence in my life. I'm sure you will always have great memories of your Grandma and I can tell you that she will be with you every day...keep her memories alive.

Thanks for visiting my blog, by the way. Happy cooking!

Gail - Thanks. I didn't even realize I had this picture until I went looking. I always like pictures of her when she's laughing.

Paula - It definitely was a blessing. I never knew my grandfather (her husband) but she was definitely a blessing.

    VC- Thanks

Erika - Thank you. She always enjoyed her Senior adult choir at church, so I know that she is just loving singing praises all day now!

Peabody -I actually got to tell her about that memory when we were going to see my parents one weekend. I'm glad I did.

Stacy - Thanks. I will miss her. Every time I see her picture, I just think that it's not right that she's gone...it's not real to me yet.

Kristen - Thank you. I'm sorry about your uncle. I will definitely have good memories of her.

Abby - I sure hope they are! How great to sing forever! I can just see her face glowing as she does.
