Dinner with Friends
Just a quick update tonight...recipes in later posts. We had friends over tonight for dinner. It was M's birthday a couple of weeks ago, but I was visiting my parents. So, J and M came over tonight. I made baked tilapia, probably my favorite, with a new roasted potato recipe, fresh baked bread, and squash. It was a really nice meal. Then roomie made a chocolate oreo pudding dessert. We had a nice visit and break from studying. If you had been a fly on the wall you would probably wonder how some of our conversations started! Anyway, I'll be back tomorrow with a recipe and pictures. For now, I'm going to bed! Tomorrow I have class and a meeting with my preceptor so that I can start learning how to be a doctor! :-)
I love tilapia! It's such a versatile fish to use.
ReplyDeleteI was picking up some shrimp for Philip's visit when I heard a lady asking the meat market guy about how to cook tilapia. Someone had served it to her and she wanted to try it out herself. I stuck my "nose" in and told her how easy it is to broil it. Just sprinkle your favorite seasoning (season salt, Tony Chachere's, garlic salt, pepper....whatever you want). She was excited that it was so easy.
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun, glad you guys had a good time. Have a good day today, hope all goes well :)
ReplyDeleteYour dinner sounded great. I love tilapia, too! I like to bake it in parchment with thin slices of lemon and fresh taragon (with just a pinch of salt and pepper). It is such a light addition to any meal!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the new class. I am sure you will do great!
Ivonne - I need to figure out some new ways to make it. I get stuck on broiling/baking it. I tried to add some parmesan and bread crumbs this time but didn't really like it that much...I'd rather just have the fish!
ReplyDeleteDaddy - Yay!!!! I'm glad that you knew what to tell her. Shrimp...I'm jealous.
Stacy - It was fun...I always have fun when we have our (usually) monthly dinner.
Linda - I need to try making it like that. I just recently had it in parchment at a local restaurant and it was DELICIOUS!!! Mmmm...I could eat that tonight!
I love tilapia too! We haven't had it in a while, but it's really good for just about anything. Probably our favorite way to prepare it is on the grill.
ReplyDeleteI never tried tilapia. I sounds good though.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the meeting tommorrow!
Erika - I don't know if I've had grilled tilapia but I do like grilled catfish. So, I know that grilled tilapia must be great!
ReplyDeleteAnnie - You MUST try it...it's so yummy and very healthy. you know what they say, fish 2-3 times a week! My meeting went well, I got to see 3 patients. This is when I get excited about learning to be a doctor!
